ABOUT GEISINGER'S PEDIATRIC RESIDENCY PROGRAM

Geisinger's Pediatric Residency Program began training pediatricians in the 1940's, shortly after the field of pediatrics was recognized as separate from general internal medicine.   Since that time, our program has graduated many hundreds of physicians who have served children and their families in both small rural settings as well as large urban locations.  Our graduates have enjoyed success in private practice, sub-specialty care, academic appointments and research. 

Although we are not a university-based program, Geisinger is nationally recognized as an academic place of excellence.  Our residency program boasts an outstanding board pass rate that is among the best in the country as well as unique innovations in resident education that have been lauded by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

Our residents are amazing.  We work very hard not only to identify and recruit students with excellent academic histories, but also individuals who have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills as well as personal characteristics that create cohesive classes that truly care about each other's well-being.

Our program is committed to providing the best education for our residents as possible.  Geisinger's pediatric department is full of skilled attendings who love to teach as well as mentor and guide new physicians as they strive to achieve their goals.
