THE AUTISM AND DEVELOPMENTAL MEDICINE INSTITUTE

The Gesinger Autism and Developmental Institute (ADMI) is a nationally renown center merging highly technical, cutting edge research in developmental medicine and genetics with practical measures to improve the lives of children and families with neurocognitive disorders.  The ADMI is a collaborative undertaking between Bucknell University Neurosciences and Geisinger, meshing the work of both clinical and basic science researchers and physicians who care directly for these patients.  Our residents all have the opportunity to rotate at the center during their Neurodevelopmental block which is taken during either the PGY2 or PGY3 year of training.

OUR CLINICAL FACULTY

The ADMI staff is fortunate to have a number of outstanding members.  The clinical work of the program is directed by Dr. Thomas Challman who works closely with Dr. Scott Myers, both boarded neurodevelopmental specialists.  Drs. Challman and Myers have both trained at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and are both well respected nationally.  Their work includes collaboration with the American Academy of Pediatrics Council on Children with Disabilities to author their position statement on the identification, evaluation, and management of children with autism spectrum disorder.  Additionally, their work, in collboration with our Genomics Program has helped to identify genetic causes for developmental disorders which were previously unrecognized.
