The core of Geisinger's Pediatric Residency Program is our passionate team of program administrators who follow a high academic standard to guide their values, creativity and leadership. Take a look below to learn more about each of our team members.

FRANK A. MAFFEI, MD

Chairman, Department of Pediatrics

Dr. Maffei has served as the Department Chair since 2017.  In addition to his leadership as Chair, Dr. Maffei is clinically active as a pediatric critical care provider.  Dr. Maffei completed his medical school training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine before his residency in Pediatrics at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.  He subsequently completed two fellowships in both Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Critical Care at UPMC and University of Rochester respectively.  Dr. Maffei is deeply committed to resident education and is a true advocate for our program.

STACEY CUMMINGS, MD

Program Director

Dr. Cummings has served as the Vice-Chair of the Department of Pediatrics and has recently assumed the role of Residency Program Director.  She is clinically active as a General Pediatrician at our Woodbine Lane Clinic.  Dr. Cummings attended medical school at the Eastern Virgina Medical School.  She is a graduate of The University of Connecticut/Connecticut Children's Medical Center Residency Program.  Dr. Cummings has special interest in childhood safety and injury prevention as well as pediatric well-care.  She enjoys teaching and innovation in education but most importantly, connecting on a personal level with all of our residents to help them achieve their career goals.

KATHRYN DEHART, MD

Associate Program Director

Dr. DeHart has been an Associate Program Director since 2010.  She is a primary care provider at the Woodbine Clinic as well as a provider in our newborn Nursery.  She attended medical school at the University of Washington and graduated from Geisinger's Pediatric Residency Program in 2006.  After working in Wyoming for a number of years, Dr. DeHart returned to Geisinger and assumed the role of Continuity Clinic Director.  She has worked on a number of projects to improve resident education and has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to our residency program.

SARAH L. MARKS, MD

Associate Program Director

Dr. Sarah Marks has been an Associate Program Director since 2010.  Her clinical areas of experience are in Pediatric Hospital Medicine as well as a Pediatric Sedation.  Dr. Marks is a graduate of the University of North Carolina Residency Program where she served as Chief Resident.  In addition to her other leadership responsibilities, Dr. Marks coordinates our Child Advocacy rotation as well as our formal residency and department didactics.  She enjoys helping residents develop the skills they need to be true child advocates and valuable members of their community.

MARYANNE WESNER, CTAGME

Program Manager

Mrs. Wesner has been the Program Manager for over twenty years.  She has played a major role in the development and improvement of not just our residency program but also the entirety of graduate medical education at Geisinger.  Mrs. Wesner's considerable experience has been recognized nationally, and she is a regular contributor to the Program Coodinator's Section of the Association of Pediatric Program Directors.  Above all else, MaryAnne truly enjoys the role she plays in making sure the program runs smoothly and ensuring that residents have the support they need to successfully manage theor education and personal lives.
