FARMER'S MARKETS AND ORGANIC FOODS
Danville is located in the rolling farmlands of northern Pennsylvania. For many of our families, farming has been a way of life for over a century. The landscape is dotted with orchards, apiaries, berry fields and small family farms, all providing locally sourced food to our community. Our local growers and farmers are very knowledgeable about the environmental and health impacts of large-scale commercial farming. Many farms in the region are completely organic. Locally grown fruits and vegetables, meats and prepared foods can be purchased at the many farm stores and farmer's markets in the area. These offer a great source of fresh produce, exposure to some unique rural Pennsylvania delicacies and an opportunity to speak directly to the hard-working men and women that put food on our tables.
FERRY STREET GROWER'S MARKET
Located in the middle of Danville, the Ferry Street Grower's Market is open every Saturday morning from 8AM until Noon during from May until November. The market showcases local fruit and vegetables, honey and maple syrup, meats, flowers, prepared foods and pastries. LEWISBURG FARMER'S MARKET
Lewisburg Farmer's Market is the largest farmer's market in the region and has been in operation for over eighty years. The market sells local produce, meats and dairy products, homemade baked goods, bulk candy and chocolates, healthy foods, fresh-cut flowers and handmade arts and crafts. WHITENIGHT'S FARM STORE
Located just over the bridge in Riverside, Whitenight's is a popular place to find farm grown fruits and vegetables as well as fresh baked pies and home made ice cream. The market also sells plants and other specialty items. Whitenight's also has several special events such as a fall corn maze, hay rides, chicken barbecue and a free fireworks display each summer. ROHRBACH'S FARM MARKET
Rohrbach's is a family owned farm market located in nearby Catawissa. They operate a large orchard as well as fields that produce a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. Rohrbach's is a great source for farm-raised beef which is grain and grass fed and free from hormone exposure. In addition to wonderful produce, the market also sells crafts, baked goods and other prepared foods and is home to Big Dan's Barbecue, selling brisket, chicken, pulled pork and ribs. CREST HAVEN FARM MARKET
Crest Haven is located just outside of town in Mayberry Township. It specializes in locally sourced seasonal fruits and vegetables as well as meats, poultry and dairy products. GREEN BARN BERRY FARM
If you enjoy picking your own food fresh out of the garden, then Green Barn Berry Farm is the place to go. They permit customers to harvest their own berries, pumpkins and vegetables on their farm in Muncy, just a short drive from Danville. See what's in season on their Facebook page here.
DRIES ORCHARD
Dries Orchard is a family-run local orchard that produces several varieties of apples, peaches, nectarines, pears, cherries, strawberries, and grapes. The orchard presses their own apple cider.
